Thunder rumbled overhead and rain was beginning to pour in sheet. Martin fumbled with his keys, lightly kicking open the door before dragging in grocery bags. Canned food, batteries, first aid kit, etc. He’d been sent off to buy supplies now that the Kingsley family was stuck in Niji to wait out the storm. He rushed, pushing in the bags as his clothes soaked up rain water before entering the house and slamming the door shut. “I’m home!” he called out, shivering at the AC before beginning to strip down. He picked up his jacket and shoes, rushing to throw them into the washing machine. Martin yelped slipping on the tile at the entrance before catching himself. He swallowed hard dropping off his clothes, stopping only to nab a towel from the bathroom.
There the black stripped down completely, rushing to find clothes. He settled on a tank top and basketball shorts. Quickly, the male rubbed the towel on his body, drying up the rain water before pulling on his clothes. He did the best he could with his sopping wet hair before giving up and letting it air dry. “Better, waaay better.” He muttered leaving his room and heading back to the kitchen where his mom was putting away the groceries. “Aw Marty, you’ll get sick if you keep your hair wet.” She chided while her son shrugged back. “How’s bro? Did he call back yet?” the boy asked as his mother handed him a bottled tea. “He’s talking to Dad before the connection cuts off.” The woman explained. “Mind the door sweetie, we ordered some pizza while you were out.” She continued.
Martin almost choked on his tea. “Someone’s open right now?!” he asked in disbelief moving to the living room to take a seat on the couch. The TV was on but the volume was down. Still from what he could tell, it was just storm coverage on the news channel. The black sipped his drink slowly brushing back wet locks out of his face. He doubted anyone would actually arrive with a pizza. That was insane! As if on cue, a rushed knocking sounded off the front door. Marty looked over waiting to see if it had been debris before it sounded again. “Crap!” he yelled getting up and rushing to the door. Something he immediately regretted. Wind and rain buffeted his face. He tried shielding his eyes with a hand but even that wasn’t very effective. “Ah thank you!” he managed looking at the stranger.
