HASEGAWA SATOMI TWENTY THREE . DEMISEXUAL . ASSISTANT RESEARCHER Satomi is a research assistant at the local university under one of her relatives. She wants to focus on the studies of chemical reactions within the brain in relation to assigned colors, but she's relatively new to Niji, having moved in a few months ago. FRIENDS Friends are difficult to come by when one has a habit of stating the facts with such a flat affect, and, while she doesn't flaunt her family name, it shows through other means. Her mannerisms, her choice in career, all are reflections of her family. Anyone who wants to be her friend probably has to be very patient, thick skinned, or even both. A few good things if you do manage to be a friend, she'll actually try to be more aware of your feelings and choose her words far more carefully. enemies She doesn't go out of her way to make enemies, but she does take some time to get used to. Sato has a way of speaking, even down to a way of holding herself, that makes her appear very 'stand-offish.' The same goes for the rest of her family, honestly speaking. Even with the influence of others, it's a trait that hasn't dulled over the years. In general, it's bound to come across the wrong way for many people, never mind how her family does have competitors both inside and outside of the family. Rivalry promotes success. others She does have a younger sibling and two older siblings. Most are as detached as she is, but there is one or two "black" sheep in the family that doesn't match up with the rest of them. They aren't spoken of in general and are a sensitive topic for everyone in the family. She also had a friend in her high school that was able to wear her down. Maybe even a room mate since she doesn't live with her family anymore but in an apartment within the city. It's actually relatively modest. |

hI I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND PLOTS so ren is poor and working at least two part-time jobs to stay afloat in student debt and her terrible financial situation- since they're around the same age, maybe ren could be satomi's roommate?? although ren can be a little bit messy and grumpy since she's super tired from her jobs, but maybe she and satomi have this quiet mutual coexistence where the times ren and satomi are both hanging out in their apartment they just kind of like talk about how their days were and eat out and stuff!! u can add on more bc i suck at ideas cry

This works with me! I'm guessing the apartment was originally just Ren's to help out with the rent? Or it could be Satomi's too. (I figure it's more the other way around bc Satomi moved to Niji just a few months ago.) Tho, lbr, she would probably pay for the apartment by herself and get Ren in just because she's prefer another person to a pet. lmao.
If the place ever gets really messy, she'd probably just take a deep breath and stare at Ren until she cleans up after herself. I doubt she cares if the place is extremely clean, just as long as her things are in a pile (like this is Ren's pile of junk and this is Sato's pile of unfinished research papers), the kitchen area remains clean, and you can see the floor.
It would be funny if Sato ever talks about herself, because I can see it more the other way? Plus, when she does, it probably sounds like she's giving a report or debriefing. It'll be interesting when Ren could see past the quirks and find when she's actually vexed about something. For Ren tho, she'd def play that straight shooter friend who doesn't hold back any punches if Ren ever expects some response from her.
Geez I wrote a lot. (And I still haven't touched the thing with shiori. lol)
EDIT: I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS, BUT -- you know, if the apartment was Satomi's originally, like by herself, then she put something in the paper that got Ren's attention. It'll probably be a 2ldk, so a p big place? Then Ren and Shiori could re-meet there?

LOL I'M SO SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY... school happened, but i'm back for the time being! \o/ i definitely see them having these weird staring contests over cleaning up messes but ren loses all the time bc intense eye contact too intense lol. ren would most definitely badger satomi into being more personal and less cold, since she'd rather make nice with her roommates than live ~quietly~ but oooo yes maybe ren got kicked out of her old apartment since her parents stopped paying for rent and then TADA she finds satomi's ad!! we could thread about this??

I feel like the chances of these two meeting would be incredibly slim with Satomi being stand offish and unfriendly and Hikaru being aloof and having a resting bitch face. Even so, I think Hikaru would take an interest in her if they were to talk, even for a little while. Personality wise (and maybe even appearance wise), Satomi would remind Hikaru of his own mother. Kind of weird but she was a black and a neurosurgeon and had she been a bigger influence in Hikki's life, hell, he'd probably being working in the university too. add/subtract anything you want because im reallyyyy bad at this. |

This is kind of funny because I imagine one of Satomi's older siblings being a neurosurgeon. They could have met through the university as well. Regardless of how big it might be, it's one of those places where everyone knows everyone eventually. I'm not entirely sure how they'd be in a thread, since Satomi isn't the nicest person around -- but I guess it all depends on how they meet. If he's working in the university, it kinda depend on the department maybe -- or a friend?/classmate?associate? -- could have asked either one of them for a favor which ends up with the two meeting and having to interact.
The only idea i have in mind at the moment is kinda scifi because of stuff I'd been watching. The thing that'd push 'em in the same area could be to be that they'd been hoisted into becoming models for a pet project that identifies expressions, which would be a test for both of them. It'd be funny if it breaks while one of them was on the spotlight. Even funnier if it was Satomi. lol.

hikaru never attended niji university nor does he work there atm. in the end, it was his father who won out lol so he chose a different career path. i do like your idea since it seems to rely on pure chance (which is likely the only way of these two actually meeting). alternatively, since hikaru is an actor, the university could be used as a shooting site for a while? or maybe he has a role coming up and decides to shadow around the university for a while to study up for it?

But yes. That could would probably work better if it were for a role in the movie. Sato wouldn't change whether or not the university becomes the setting so long as it doesn't interfere with her work. The same goes with shadowing, but ... To 'force' them to interact more, he could be assigned to her? Er. We could toss the two ideas together, and his first impression of her would be seeing Sato barging in to get to where she needed to go and end up arguing with whoever stops her. Then, later as punishment, instead sending her back for a while, he could shadow her.
(Although, if we'd do this, we'd probably thread more of the break since just watching her work wouldn't be that much of a thread? lol)

Yes, totally. If he is assigned to her, then that forces them to interact like you said. If he had just come there of his own accord, it might not be a long shot to assume that she would just ignore him lol. So I'm good with going with a scenario like this. And yeah, we might have to skip a bit of time to lunch. I do see Hikaru wanting to ask questions while she is working but deciding to save it for a less busy time.
