| the coals are beginning to glow when it's all said and done, we'll shine like the sun
Emir’s face scrunched up in concentration as he stared at his easel, a few paint splotches covering part of the pencil drawing. He wasn’t really excited for this project. The assignment had been to design some sort of location. So he had done some google image searches and cut and paste a bunch of plants and rivers together. He’d even added a dinosaur because you know what it was art. He was already not taking the assignment seriously. Drawing was cool but paint was, well it was weirder. And harder to deal with. And also very expensive. He frowned, putting the paintbrush down and getting up from his chair.
It was time to take a walk. Maybe he’d get something from the vending machine. Anything was better than staring at a half assed landscape he already hated looking at. Art was a finicky thing to him. He moved slowly, shoving his hands into his pockets eyes flicking over from class mate to classmate. There weren’t many left. The painting class was over but the studio was still available for use. He hovered quietly more interested in other people’s work than his own. Unfortunately he might’ve drifted too close. Emir turned intending on leaving quietly, instead he managed to knock over some paint. He watched attempting to catch the containers only managing to knock them further off course and onto the student that was using them. He grimaced flicking some of the paint on the floor before realizing he was probably going to have to clean it up. “Uh, sorry. It came out of nowhere.” He said immediately excusing himself of the responsibility. “Did I ruin your thing?” he added a bit more concerned over the assignment than the mess. |

{ I feel safe in the 5AM light you carry my fears and the heavens set fire
The soft scraping of his palette knife against the canvas was a peaceful sound, one Karasu enjoyed. Lately, he'd been experimenting with painting without brushes. The results were mixed, but he thought he liked it. It made for an interesting blending of the colors, if nothing else. The teacher had said to design a location, so he was doing just that. As someone who focused mainly on landscapes and candid images, this sort of assignment was right up Karasu's alley. He had decided to paint a city on water at night. A picture of Venice at the library had given him the idea. Licking his finger, the painter used his thumb to smudge in the colors a little bit, blending the reflection of lights on the water. It didn't feel right yet...something was missing...He set his palette down and pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes, hard enough to make his head ache and colors pop behind his eyelids. What was it? Just have to think... He was drawn out of his thoughts by the sound of something clanking, and then the feeling of something wet soaking his front. Karasu's eyes popped open and he glanced down at his shirt, eyebrows knitting at the oil paints suddenly soaking into and staining the blue fabric. What just happened? "Uh, sorry, it came out of nowhere," a voice said from behind him. The man turned and locked eyes with a pink-haired man, about his age. His painting? Ah! Karasu turned to look at his piece, eyes widening at the paint that had managed to fall on it. From the looks of the splatters though, as long as he spread them quickly and covered them, whatever damage made could be fixed without much trouble. He wordlessly grabbed his palette knife and started doing just that, smoothing the colors down and blending them in. Part of him breathed a sigh of relief--he would've been really upset if it had been ruined. "I-It's fine," he replied, not looking away from his piece. He finished blending in the last spot of yellow and leaned back to study the painting, lips pressed into a firm line. His blue eyes widened as he studied it further. A small, slow smile eased over the artist's features. "That's it!" he murmured excitedly, glowing at the canvas. Those few extra colors worked in had done the trick! He turned to the Pink who had knocked the paints over. "T-thanks. You just helped me a lot."MADE BY VEL OF GS

| the coals are beginning to glow when it's all said and done, we'll shine like the sun
Emir frowned as the artist noticed the sudden mess on the canvas. It looked like had a lot more work done on it than his. The guy had probably not been procrastinating and actually working to make his assignment look decent. Or well more than decent actually. He prepared for a sudden outburst that he would have to defend form but there was none. He stood watching the purple haired student quickly apply the wet paint and incorporate it into his painting. Emir’s eyes slowly widened in surprise as the actions unable to comprehend how Karasu saw color. When he was done the splattered paint was blended in with the colors already on the canvas almost seamlessly. “I’m sorry what?” the model uttered wondering what kind of black magic his companion had performed.
He blinked, unsure of what had just happened before looking at the purplette in surprise. “Uh. Yeah! No problem I guess.” He replied offering a charismatic grin in an attempt to hide his amazement. “Pretty lucky the spill wasn’t a bad mess then huh?” he added. Emir studied the painting frowning after a moment before looking over at Karasu. “Are you an art major?” he asked, hesitating for a moment. If someone had splattered paint on his canvas he probably would’ve freaked and tried to wipe it off with water. There would’ve been gross smears everywhere to hide. Karasu had just rolled with it though. “I really can’t wrap my head around what you did.” He added rubbing his eyes as he spoke. |

{ I feel safe in the 5AM light you carry my fears and the heavens set fire
As he studied the other student who had just saved his project, Karasu felt the faint stirrings of inspiration cause a tickling sensation in his fingers. They itched for a pencil and paper. The slightly younger man's strawberry locks were full and soft, contrasting against the dark, clean lines of his face. He was beautiful, Karasu had no trouble admitting. Something about him almost seemed to radiate energy, light. As an artist, the purplet had no problem seeing and admiring the beauty he saw in the world. It was his lot in life to see it, notice it, capture it to the best of his ability. Karasu nodded in response to Emir, to both of his statements. Yes, it was lucky. Yes, he was an art major. He rather liked his major, as well. The painter got to learn about the works he had admired in books as a child, as well as create the art he loved so much. He never tired of thinking about it, making it, seeing it. It was his life. He was okay with saying that. Was fixing the painting that odd, though? Karasu turned to study his canvas, tilting his head to let himself see from a different angle. The colors blended together neatly. With a bit of time to dry and another layer, one would never know that the new additions were done accidentally. As for how he had done it...he just had. Karasu had always had the ability to see colors and connect them to each other. Perhaps it was part of growing up in a place like Niji, where colors meant so much. It definitely contributed to his preferred style, where he would manage to fit an entire rainbow's worth of paint onto one canvas and make it blend. He shrugged. "All it was was blending them in. It's lucky that the colors spilled weren't different ones, or else it wouldn't have worked," Karasu replied softly, not taking his eyes off of his painting. A piece of purple hair fell into one of the man's ice blue eyes, and he moved to brush it away. A smear of green stayed behind on his forehead, left by his paint-splattered hand. Oops, when the paint had spilled, it had gotten all over him. He'd have to change and wash it off later. Tonight was dinner at his parents' place. "What about you?" Karasu asked, looking away from the canvas. "Are you working on anything?"MADE BY VEL OF GS

| the coals are beginning to glow when it's all said and done, we'll shine like the sun
Art was difficult. He didn’t really have a good grasp on it but he supposed it was ok. After all he was learning, and this class was just an elective for him. Besides he rather enjoyed visiting the art building during the week. Seeing what other works his fellow students created always made him happy. He wished he had a talent for something cool. But, he supposed making a living with his appearance was pretty good too. “Yeah, definitely lucky.” Emir said with a solemn nod.
He would’ve been in for it if he had ruined another student’s project. He frowned noting the sudden streak of paint on the Karasu’s forehead. He froze as his classmate’s attention went back to him and nodded absently. “Yeah, it’s slow going though. I’ll probably just work at home later.” Emir dodged not exactly pleased but not willing to pour any more effort into it either. He could figure it out some other time, and Karasu was a welcome distraction. He snickered before lifting a hand to point at the artist’s face. “Hey you know you have paint there right?” he asked. Right off the bat, the purplet seemed rather relaxed, not reacting too badly when the paint was spilled on him which was good for Emir but still.
The model just thought he seemed a little…spacey. Which was funny but he supposed he shouldn’t laugh. After all, he had been the source of the mess in the first place. “Let me help you with the mess before you get more streaks on your face.” He added holding back another light hearted snicker. “I can at least help you with the floor and stuff.” He continued.
