A COLD RAIN IS FALLING She had been sitting at the same bench for hours. Still in her school uniform, she had not moved an inch for food or water. The breeze blew her long bangs across her face as the sky shifted from pale blue blue to red and orange to the blues and grays. Stars faintly dotted the sky, and she imagined for a second that she was in the countryside with her mothers – she would be able to see more stars than she could in the city. Her art had disgusted her recently. Though she could delete her work whenever it displeased her – the perks of being a digital artist – her failures had still made her displeased and somewhat moody. She pitied all the friends who had to put up with her bad attitude on a daily basis. If only she could create good art, maybe it would all go away. She had come to the park for inspiration, yet she had been sitting there for hours and nothing had piqued her interest. She didn't believe in signs or fate – she knew she would have to find inspiration with her own two hands. Yet her creativity seemed to have run dry recently, and she wished to find something new and exciting.

{ } Today was a beautiful day! The sun was shining brightly and there was barely a cloud in the sky. It was almost too good to be true. Today was literally the perfect day to be outside underneath a shady tree and just compose music. After all, his muse was just brimming with ideas in the good weather. But instead he was stuck in school for a good chunk of his day, waiting restlessly for the day to be over so he could start singing or playing his guitar, or anything really that didn't involve learning. See, Ai was a very good student. He really was. He was just... very bad at paying attention, and sometimes sitting down in one spot for too long without being engaged the whole time gets him antsy. So when the bell chimed for the last time today, Ai all but speed-packed his school things and raced walked out with a group of equally as eager friends. It was quickly decided that they'd head towards a local ice cream shop and grab ice cream, then go their separate ways at the park. Not long later, a strawberry and vanilla twist ice cream in hand, Ai and his group of friends made it to the park, chatting away with each other, their voices nearly melding together to make them indistinguishable from each other. Ai waved them off and plopped onto a bench, finishing off his ice cream, taking care that his fluffy, salmon pink tresses didn't stick to the sweet treat. He hummed softly in delight, amethyst pools bright and sparkling with delight. Ah, today was a good day. The seventeen year old musician stretched, making sure not to jostle his guitar case too much. His most prized possession was in there. Speaking of guitars... A wide, charming grin bloomed on to his lips as he finished his ice cream and eagerly pulled out his acoustic guitar. Now was the perfect time to play!

A COLD RAIN IS FALLING She was about to go home when she heard the sound of a guitar; faint, but still present. She was impressed: most people didn't have the confidence – or perhaps abrasiveness – to play in a public park. Curiousity piqued, she followed the sound of the music to the source. The guitarist was a pink-haired boy sporting her school's uniform – she hadn't seen him before, which was surprising. He seemed like he'd be popular – he was attractive. She, however, couldn't help but feel disappointed by him. He wasn't inspirational enough. Anyone could paint a pretty boy. She needed to be able to do something more. Sighing to herself, she plopped down in the bench opposite the pink-haired boy. What a disappointment. Beauty wasn't unique. She wondered if she should approach the boy. If he had seen her, he'd know that they were from the same school as well. And if he recognized her and she ran into him at school it would be awkward. But despite all that, she couldn't just speak to him out of the blue – she sighed once more. Besides, he probably had friends that were waiting for him, and she had a brother waiting for her at home. I need to leave, she lectured herself reluctantly. Her brother was probably starving – he could barely make rice. But she wanted to stay and hear the boy play more, so she did not move.

{ } Nimble fingers tuned the instrument with practiced movements, a keen ear listening in to make sure that each chord was tightened to perfection. His initial check over, the boy thought for a moment, wondering what to play. He could play something he already knew, maybe an acoustic version to one of his favorite songs. Or perhaps he could just go with the flow, and let whatever tune that blossomed in his head resound through his head. He did have a couple melodies he had been working on, and wanted to test them out with the lyrics he had in mind. Yeah, that could work. Finally deciding on what to do, he let his fingers work, weaving a lovely melody through sets of strumming and exact holds on the chords. The melody made was a soft one, filled with rhythmic highs and lows that weaved a story of sweet summers and clear skies. He tapped his foot slightly, keeping an almost drum beat to keep him steady and opened his mouth, lyrics spilling from his lips. Ai didn't notice the crowd that had begun to form, didn't notice the excited whispers and the smiles of delight, too lost in his music, his vibrant eyes closed as he let his body just feel the music and pull it out accordingly. When the lyrics slowly faded and the last chords were struck to end the song, Ai's eyes flew open, startled by the applause and the cheers from the small crowd he had amassed. A bright smile appeared on his lips, excited that they had liked his music. " Thank you everyone!" he thanked, watching the crowd disperse slowly in the same fashion that it had accumulated. With a content sigh, the boy looked back down at his guitar and strummed it again, just letting his mind wander as his fingers played. He couldn't believe all those people liked his music! Ai's heart swelled at the thought, and a small chuckle escaped his lips. Today really was a good day.
