"get a move on kinoshita, before we all die because of you!"
"i'm comin'! i'm comin'! wait up!"
hammering the last nail into the ground so as to secure the blanket atop of bags of soil, the eighteen-year-old quickly got up to her feet and ran out of the fenced construction site. she was practically drenched, even despite the yellow raincoat she had on. "you're really gonna be the death of me someday, kid." the site manager barked, giving a rough push at yuzu's helmet, glaring at her in annoyance.
"it'll be my pleasure, boss." the multi-colour-haired girl replied, solemnly with a salute.
"say that again!"
"maybe some other time, sir?" amber eyes blinked, looking from the man to her other coworkers who didn't exactly seem happy with her, either.
the manager snorted, "at least you know that much. alright, yuzu's incompetence aside, i'll see y'all once the weather's cleared up. try not to actually die out there. this building'd never complete if we're down one person." his gaze scanned the other workers briefly before he gave a nod, "dismiss." the moment he was done saying this, however, he'd turned his attention back to yuzu, "kinoshita!"
"... aw shit, again?" yuzu, who had already turned around to take her leave, was left to pucker out her bottom lip unwillingly.
"y'prolly need a ride, don't ya? were y'listening when i said that we can't afford to lose a person 'cause of the storm?" the man frowned, narrowing his eyes at her. though slightly surprised at first, the kinoshita soon gave a loud laugh and a wave of her hand.
"nah! thanks for worryin' but i'll be okay! we're havin' onabe tonight so i gotta hurry or mama's gonna kick my ass. see ya later!" grinning, the eighteen-year-old proceeded to unlock her bike from the sidewalk and mounted on, practically ignoring the calls of her manager.
it's just a storm anyway, she thought as she pedalled quickly, racing down the sidewalk without much care for anyone else's safety.
