so i just kinda made this im sorry ?? words | It was dark by the time Shizuka got on the train. Her mother and father had told her they would be at their friend's house for dinner, and because of that she had spent an extra hour at the tennis courts practicing – there would be nobody at home to scold her for her tardiness. She wondered briefly if she would have to make dinner for herself or if her mother had made some she could heat up. She hoped she didn't have to make dinner for herself. She was already exhausted, and had plenty of homework left to do.
The train slid to a stop and she exited, the warm night air hitting her face in a sudden gust. Her bag slid down her shoulder into the crook of her elbow, yanking her loose hair in an awkward fashion. She pulled the bag back up, and flicked her hair onto her back, continuing on. The walk to her apartment was only ten minutes at most, the streets mostly empty at this time of night. Through the windows of well-lit apartments she could see the silhouettes of dining families. She could even hear laughter and shouts through open windows. Soon enough, she was at her own home.
A light was on in the kitchen. Shit. Were her parents home already? They wouldn't be pleased that she had returned home so late. She unlocked the door and entered – there was nothing she could do to save herself now. But her parents' jackets did not hang on the wall, someone else's did. Her parents weren't the ones who had turned on the light. She could tell already it wasn't a thief – no burglar would hang their jacket on the wall before proceeding to plunder someone's home. She kicked off her shoes and walked to the kitchen – no use wondering, when she could just find out herself.
"Oh. It's you." |

He didn't often answer his phone. There were few numbers he bothered to save, mostly for emergency purposes, people who he considered family being among them. He didn't really give a shit about too many people, so he kept it a secret for his sake and their own, but when he got a call from a Mrs. Sasaki he returned the message with a legitimate callback. Hide didn't speak with the woman who essentially adopted him as her own child. He just wasn't good at talking on the phone, and always being busy, it wasn't his fault. However, if there was ever a need that involved Shizuka he was there. When he'd been given the news he'd gathered his stuff and hitched the next train over to their place. If he missed anything about living with his former neighbors is was the home cooked meals. He had already started rummaging through their fridge after taking off his shoes and coat at the door. His father hadn't really cooked all that much, and as a result he didn't learn, and after Shizu's parents took him in what need was there to anyway? He did his best to refrain. After poking around he grabbed a glass from one of the cabinets and poured himself something to drink, just in time to hear the door open. That must be her. He turned his cheek to in the direction of the entry way, before taking a sip of the juice he'd just poured for himself. He set it down a moment later, turning to head toward the front door, that is until she was suddenly there in his way. He scowled at her reaction. "Disappointed?" He responded back, his tone lifting in a question as he walked toward her. It was late, too late for young girls to be walking around outside in the dark. "Where the hell have you been huh?" Did she think that she'd gotten off the hook just because her parents weren't here? Absolutely not. Hide wrapped his arms around her without hesitation, squeezing her tightly to him just enough that it'd make it hard for her to breath. "No, 'Onii-chan I missed you!', or 'Don't ever leave for so long!'" He complained, mimicking the tone of a girls voice if only to get on her nerves. She was damn lucky he didn't smell alcohol on her, but he was still going to interrogte just to make sure she wasn't up to no good. SAKAKI SHIZUKA | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

?? words | Unsurprisingly, Hide was no more pleased with her tardiness than her own parents would have been. "Don't be so mistrustful, onii-san," she said. "I'm a better child than yo--" Oof. She was cut off by one of Hide's hugs. She felt like she was in a straitjacket – not that she knew what that felt like, but she imagined it was something like this. She couldn't breathe.
He started talking again as she slowly suffocated against his shoulder. This time he was just being irritating. His falsetto was painfully bad as well. She needed her freedom. As he spoke, she slowly wriggled one of her hands free to jab at the sides of his stomach. He'd probably release her if she jabbed hard enough – most people were ticklish there, or at least got surprised when somebody poked them out of the blue. She poked him before responding.
"I was at tennis practice." Sort of a lie; tennis practice was over, but she had stayed late. She had always been a good liar though, and Hide didn't have to know. It was too much effort to elaborate on, and she didn't want to give him any extra material to question her about. "When did you get here?" Her mother hadn't told her that Hide was going to come over. In fact, she hadn't expected her mother to invite anyone over, much less the ever-busy Hide. Shizuka was old enough to not need a babysitter, after all. "How long are you staying?" she asked, a question that could possibly be interpreted as ruder than she meant it to be. She just wanted to know if he was going to stay to talk to her parents or not. |

He knew what she was about to say before he cut her off, and while it was true, it didn't mean she could come home late like this thinking that her parents weren't home. He could only imagine the things she could have been doing aside from going to 'tennis practice'. What kind of bullshit sport tennis was anyway?? He scoffed at her as she managed to free one of her hands to jab him. It didn't really hurt when she hit him, but he still let her go, and rubbed his midsection after doing so. He gave her a mistrusting look after she'd admitted where she was, Hide still not believing it fully even though he wanted to. She was just so sheltered in his mind, and certainly didn't compare to him as far as breaking the rules went. What could she possibly do that could get her in trouble? As far as he was concerned, Shizu would always need a babysitter. "A while ago." He shouldn't have been surprised that she'd start questioning him next, he probably deserved it for not coming over as often as he should. Admittedly he'd been avoiding the parental figures in his life lately. He could blame force of habit, but he was struggling financially right now which made him turn to doing bad things for money. He didn't want them getting involved. "Tch," He snorted, giving her a sideways smirk at her boldly stated question. "Trying to get rid of me already? I know you might not think you need a babysitter, but maybe I just came over to see you." Feeling slightly jaded, he turned away from her and walked to the counter to pick up his drink. "I'll leave before your parents get back. How's that princess?" He wasn't mad at her, at least not really, but the question had surprisingly stung more than he'd thought it would hearing it. He sighed and turned with the glass in his hand moving to walk passed her to get back to the living room. SAKAKI SHIZUKA | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

i'm so sorry for the delay ?? words | She scowled imperceptibly as he smirked at her – he didn't have to be so condescending just because he was older. Her face was naturally inexpressive, so she doubted he could see her irritation, but she still felt it.
In fact, she had been unusually irritated by Hide's presence. It was because he had been gone for so long without a single word passed between the two, she realized quickly. The epiphany immediately made her feel guilty and irrational – Hide wasn't even her real brother, and he wasn't obligated to talk to her or her family if he didn't want to. She still felt bitter though. Hadn't they raised him?
"Don't call me princess," she ordered as she followed him into the living room, before spinning around and running to the kitchen to grab a glass of juice as well. Entering the living room for the second time, she plopped down in a seat opposite Hide's.
"I really was at tennis practice," she insisted once more as she sipped on her juice. She couldn't tell if he believed her or not and she really didn't want him telling her mother anything that would make her suspicious.
"How are you?" she asked in a slightly sullen tone. She had been slightly tempted to give him the silent treatment for his absence, but she didn't want to make things too awkward. And she might have missed him. Just a little bit. |
